Moreland City councillor Oscar Yildiz has promised to prioritise Oak Park if re-elected in the October 27 council elections.
Mr Yildiz said overdevelopment was the biggest issue facing Oak Park, and he would continue to oppose construction of units on the suburb’s streets.
“When you go sticking six or eight townhouses on one property it causes serious issues with parking, infrastructure issues, overcrowding,” he said.
Mr Yildiz said converting Oak Park Aquatic Centre into an indoor facility for year round use was another high priority.
“The council has already invested time and money into it, and if I’m re-elected that’s a definite goer.”
