- A Somali broadcaster shot dead on Friday was the fourth journalist killed in the nation’s capital in 24 hours.
The murder of Hassan Yusuf Absuge followed a suicide bombing in a Mogadishu restaurant which killed three journalists and wounded six others on Thursday.
Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) East Africa consultant Tom Rhodes said in a media release the recently-elected Somali government must ensure press safety.
“Mogadishu has lost yet another good journalist who persisted with his work in the face of enormous risk,” Mr Rhodes said.
According to CPJ, Somalia is the most dangerous country in Africa to practice journalism.
